The goal of my workshop is to learn how play enhances creativity, leading to inspiration and ideas. I have met several artists that have been stuck in the details and “skill” part of painting that they have lost their inspiration, run out of ideas and have lost the joy they used to feel while painting. We get so busy following the rules of how we are “supposed” to paint, like it can only be done one way. Well, I feel that in order to come up with new and original ideas rules need to be broken! That is the creative part of art! We have a passion for art, so we should enjoy every minute of it. I found that once I started to “play” with paint the ideas just started flowing! One fun result turns to something else and before you know it you discovered a style that is all your own!
This workshop will be for artists & non-artists alike. I do feel that if you are not an artist, do try and take some time to learn some basics of painting and drawing. Once you know those rules, file them in your memory, they will be there in the background as you create.
#1 Rule: Have fun!!
“I loved Greta’s workshop! She packed a lot of creative experience into just a few hours. I have already applied some of the techniques to my own artwork. This workshop is great for anyone, whether new to art or an experienced artist looking for some new ideas. She explains things well and gives plenty of time to experiment and play, but moves forward in a timely manner so things don’t get bogged down. Well worth your investment of time and money.” -Louise Placek
“I cannot wait to get back to Austin in June to take another workshop with Greta. She was so knowledgeable and patient. Just so much fun. Not to mention a great artist.” -Vivian Griffith
“I have taken two workshops with Greta. One was to learn how she makes such beautiful paintings and the second one was to bring an 8 year old artist with me. My young artist friend had a time of her life and she painted some beautiful pieces of art. Greta has always inspired me as a person and as an artist. She loves art and shares her talents and skills with others. Her workshops are well organized and gives clear and concise instructions that anyone including an 8 year old can follow. I encourage art lovers and artists to take Greta’s workshops and to learn these techniques of painting with acrylics and alcohol. What a nice day and memories I have of these workshops.” -Sharon Bibbee
“I gave myself a birthday gift of one of Greta’s workshops some time ago, and it was one of the most wonderful artistic days I’ve had! She is such an inspirational person, and is a really laid-back and friendly instructor–I never felt intimidated, even when experimenting with things I’d never tried before, and I had a great time coming up with new ideas. I went home with six cool paintings, which are still some of my favorites! In the workshop, Greta shares her own techniques freely, along with her vast collection of paints and other materials, which is great if you’re worried about “wasting” art supplies :). I would recommend Greta’s workshops to absolutely anyone who wants to spend a few hours just having fun being creative, with the addition of having an awesome guru to help them along.” –Eileen McKeon Butt
