Today I thought I would share a photo of one of the pianos around town. There are several towns that have had pianos around town as part of “Play me, I’m Yours”. I realized that they will just be around Austin till the end of the month, so there’s one week left to check them out. We happened to find a young man playing it when we went to Doug Sahm Hill this evening, and it was wonderful! I think I will try to photograph the rest of them if I can this week, and I hope to find people playing them! If you happen to be going to play one of the pianos, let me know! I will try to come by and get a photo. Check out the website http://www.artallianceaustin.org/play-me-i-am-yours.html for more information.

My SXSW experience and photos (3.27.11)
I really wanted to go to SXSW, but the badge price was a bit pricey for me, so I decided to volunteer. I was lucky enough to volunteer with the interactive crew, and the team I was on, was awesome (I was most interested in seeing the interactive portion). One thing I ended up realizing is that it was too hard to see the panels I was interested in, if I was working (will keep that in mind for next year).
This year they had SXSW EDU, which from what I understand was mostly for teachers and administrators. I found some of the talks quite fascinating, specially with everything going on with school funding etc. Great ideas for merging technology with teaching, I hope they try at least a portion of those ideas. Then I worked the meet up rooms, which were a big hit. A great idea for networking with like minded people in whatever topic you were interested in.
I got to listen to a few panels (that day job just gets in the way!
) But I definitely want to catch more panels next year. I was able to sit in and listen to the keynote speaker one day (Seth Priebatsch) and was blown away.
The parties were something else! You could just walk a few steps and there was free alcohol! But having a badge is almost a must for that! (To get into the good parties anyway). I actually met and spoke with people more during the parties than anywhere else, so it was a great networking opportunity! Also RSVP for parties EARLY! I found Do512 had the best listing of parties (official and unofficial).
Here’s just a few photos. Most were done with my EVO phone, the one day I took my camera I could not get into a party!

Finally! I have been trying to work on this for months, and it has been one obstacle after another, but I finally finished one of them. It’s my Luminescent Lamp, a small version of my Luminescent Vines, which was part of the Collaborative Project I did with friends back in August (it is at Authenticity right now). I finished this one just in time to take it to Authenticity Gallery for tomorrow night’s Holiday Sing-along and Downtown Stroll. Let me know what you think! I plan on doing several more in varying sizes & shapes.

Daily Photo 10.9.10 (A Candle for John Lennon)
I lit my John Lennon candle in honor of what would have been his 70th Birthday today. Yes, I have a John Lennon candle! Thanks to my artist friend Bill Stidham. Check out his fabulous artwork (specially his “Sacred Heart” Series) on his website, or go see him if you are at ACL!

We went to Central Market today for the Opening Ceremony for the “Passport Argentina” event. Very cool! I am so excited they have alfajores! (Yummmm) They had some music, wine and food from Argentina. They will be doing this through Sunday May 23rd. Here’s a couple of photos from tonight.
